Wenbo Xin, viola & Yiying Niu, piano

Violist Wenbo Xin, winner of the Fuchs Chamber Music competition, who has appeared with the Mannheim Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Conservatoire Royal de Liege, and made music for the Queen of Belgium. In the summer of 2022, he received a full scholarship to participate as a young artist in the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. He is joined by pianist Yiying Niu, who has appeared in recital through Asia, Europe and the United States. She is the recipient of the Helen Cohn Award for Outstanding Work in Chamber Music, and a winner of the 2023 Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition.

Wenbo Xin began his musical study in the Precollege of Central Conservatory of Music at the age of 12, there he studied with Professor Su Zhen. After he graduated, he continued to study in Royal Conservatory of Liège in Belgium. Under his studies with Professor Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Wenbo graduated with the highest score in the history of the conservatory. In 2020, he started to study at Manhattan School of Music, in the studio of Mr. Samuel Rhodes. In 2022, he received his master degree. He has continued his studies at MSM as a DMA student.

Wenbo is the recipient of Hugo Kortschak Award. He was the winner of Fuchs Chamber Music Competition. He was a finalist of Brussels triomphe de l'art International Competition, in the same year, he was invited to play for the Queen of Belgium. In 2019, he won the third prize of the X North International Music Competition in Sweden. As a chamber musician, Wenbo is also active on the world music stage. In summer of 2022, he received full scholarship to participate as an young artist in Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival.

Yiying Niu has appeared internationally in venues in China, the United States, and countries in Europe such as Austria, Holland, and Spain. In the past 2022-2023 season, she performed multiple recitals in both China and the United States.

Her love for chamber music led her to explore a rich repertoire with colleagues. She is a winner of the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition in 2023. She is also the recipient of the Helen Cohn Chamber Music Award in 2020. Her recent chamber music performances include venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie and Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center.

In addition to being a soloist, she is also a teaching assistant at the Manhattan School of Music. Yiying finished her master’s degree at the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Julian Martin. She is currently pursuing a DMA degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Marc Silverman.
