Svetlana Gorokhovich returns to Downtown Music with a program including virtuosic transcriptions of Schubert songs by Franz Liszt, “character pieces” of Johannes Brahms, and preludes by George Gershwin.

Svetlana Gorokhovich is an internationally recognized pianist and a prolific recording musician. Her performances include major concert halls in USA, Germany, Holland, Japan, Caribbean, Iceland and Italy. Svetlana’s wide range of musical abilities makes her highly attractive as a soloist and chamber music partner. As a highly demanded chamber musician Svetlana participated in international music festivals in Holland, Germany, Italy, Austria and New York during 2005-2022.
During 1991-1996 Svetlana has worked with internationally acclaimed violinist Dmitri Berlinsky, touring worldwide. Their unique recording of Russian chamber music compositions, Souvenir D’un Lieu Cher (Helicon), released in 1997, received enthusiastic reviews. Ms. Gorokhovich is a winner of International Bartok-Kabalevsky Piano Competition at Radford University (1997) and the IBLA International Competition in Italy (1999). Her solo recital in Carnegie Hall in 2000 was highly acclaimed by the New York Concert Review.
Svetlana collaborated with cellist Andrei Tchekmazov since 2009 and performed in New York and Caribbean islands. Together they recorded sonata by David Winkler. In 2023 this recording was included in CD release by DaVinci Classics. With cellist Misha Quint Svetlana recorded “Tempo Trapezio” with Blue Griffin label (2016) and “Valse Sentimentale” (2014). Recent Svetlana’s partners include Irena Portenko with whom she played as a piano duo. They have performed in Germany, USA and at the music festival “Music in the Alps” in Austria, including the concerto for two pianos by Mozart in Saal Tirol, Innsbruk (Austria) in August, 2018 under the baton of Mr. Kenneth Kiesler. Since 2016 Svetlana has collaborated with Anna Rabinova, violinist, affiliated with New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Tammy Hensrud, soprano (Hofstra University).
Today Ms. Gorokhovich continues her busy recital schedule; she is also a highly sought-after teacher and coach. She is on the piano faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester, White Plains, New York.
