Join us for a spectacular piano recital by Youlan Ji, as Downtown Music continues its collaboration with the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation in presenting virtuosic laureates of the New York International Piano Competition.
The program features Chopin’s Prelude in A flat Major, Op. 28, No. 17 and Waltz in A flat Major, Op. 42; Caténaires by Elliott Carter, and Brahms's Sonata No. 1 in C Major, Op. 1.
Born in Beijing, China, Youlan Ji became the Joyce B. Cowin First Prize Winner of the 2018 New York International Piano Competition. Youlan won First Prize at the Xinghai Cup Piano Competition (2008), the United States Open Music Competition (2011), the Third International Rosario Marciano Piano Competition (2011), the Beethoven Piano Concerto Competition (2014) and the Nordmann Scholarship Competition (2016) hosted by the Juilliard Pre-College Division. In 2015, Youlan won Third Place at the Cliburn International Junior Competition. Youlan Ji has been featured in recitals in Beijing, Shanghai, New York, Aspen, and Amsterdam.
