Robert Osborne, bass-baritone, and Babette Hierholzer, piano, perform Richard Strauss's Enoch Arden, the composer's setting of the narrative poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The program also includes selected songs by Strauss.


Bass-baritone Robert Osborne has sung over fifty roles in operas from Bernstein and Glass to Rameau and Weill with companies in Paris, Lyon, Berlin, New York, Houston, Santa Fe, Anchorage and Los Angeles. His concert career has taken him to Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Victoria Hall in Singapore, the Gran Teatro in Havana, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow where he has sung under such distinguished conductors as Bernstein, Ozawa, Spivakov, Tilson Thomas, John Williams and Russell Davies.

The debut of pianist Babette Hierholzer with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra was followed by numerous performances led by renowned Conductors Sir Colin Davis, Klaus Tennstedt, and Semyon Bychkov. She has appeared with the Pittsburgh Symphony, and in recital at Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and Weill Carnegie Hall.
